The importance of the “Gua” to Health
In
Chinese yoga and Qi Gong, there is a concept of
“Heaven, Human, Earth”. There is a link
between these three entities or parts.
Human
being receive light heavenly (Yang) Qi from the heavens mainly via the Bai
Hu or crown area of the head to nourish the head and
the internal organs in the torso.
A
denser Earth (Yin) Qi which is received mainly via
the soles of the feet (Yong Quan),
travels up the legs and to the torso to nourish the internal organs. An important pathway up the legs is via the
inside of the legs (Kidney, Liver and Spleen channels) and thru the groin (“Gua”) into the torso.
Furthermore,
another important pathway is from the smaller toes of the feet running up the
back and the sides of the legs (approximating the Urinary Bladder and the
Gallbladder channels) to the buttocks and hips where there are also energy
gateways.
Thus,
there are energy gateways (“Gua”) where most of the
energies from the Earth flow into the torso (front, sides and back).
If
these “Gua”s are blocked,
then the flow of Earth energy to nourish the internal organs is diminished,
thus eventually resulting in no only aches and pains, but also early ageing and
ill health.
