Stretch Before AND After Exercise
The purpose of stretching before exercise is to help prevent
injury by lengthening the muscles and tendons, which in turn increases the
range of movement. This helps ensure
smoother movement and minimises injury.
Stretching after exercise is to aid in the repair and
recovery of the muscles and tendons by lengthening the muscles and
tendons. Stretching helps to prevent
tight muscles and muscle soreness which usually follows after strenuous
exercises.
Thus, stretching improves flexibility, minimises muscle pain, and helps prevent muscles injury.
