Essential Components of Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan

 

All Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan (Tai Qi Quan) lineages contain the following divisions, without exception:-

Any Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan teacher who is not proficient in all the 11 sections are either not teachers of traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan,  or,  have not been properly trained in the complete tradition of Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan.  


*  108 Movement Exercise Form (not the 88 Posture Yang Style Tai Chi form of modern Wu Shu)
*  Pushing Hands
Da Lu
*  Combat Applications of the Exercise Form
*  Tai Chi Chin Na
*  Paired Sparring Set (not recognized by certain Yang Style lineages)
*  Tai Chi Combat Boxing
*  Tai Chi Sabre
*  Tai Chi Sword
*  Tai Chi Pole / Spear

*  Internal Power of Tai Chi Chuan (Iron Shirt/Golden Bell)

 

The following sections are found in particular lineages only:-

*  Fast Tai Chi Form (Tung Ying Chieh Yang style)

*  Double Sabre  (Chen Style and Tung Ying Chieh Yang Style)

*  Vajra Combat Boxing (Vajra Fist Style)

 

Note:-   There is no such weapon as the  “Tai Chi Fan”  in the Tai Chi Chuan system.

             There is a weapon called  Tai Chi Fan”  in existence.  However,  it is a separate weapon, 

             belonging to other systems,  and has nothing to do with Tai Chi Chuan. 

             Similarly,  there an art called  “Tai Chi Praying Mantis”  which belongs to the Praying Mantis Boxing

             system (Tang Lang Quan/Chuan)  which has nothing to do with Tai Chi Chuan. 

             It must be understood that the word “Tai Chi” is used to describe another totally different art that

             is not from the Tai Chi system.
